The Guernsey Sailing Trust was established in 1988 to enable local children from all walks of life to experience and enjoy the fun and challenges involved with sailing, as well as to make the sport accessible to all.

Over the years the Trust, with constantly improving facilities and resources, has been able to expand the training it provides to cover aspects of sailing, powerboating, seamanship and navigation.

The Trust also runs a successful Sailability programme for those of all age with any additional needs.  We have many options including:

  • Sailing on the pond (for younger children)
  • Sailing in our Hawk20 keelboats
  • Sailing on Invictus, our keelboat specifically designed for those with mobility issues
  • Powerboating in one of our two RIBs

We are proud to be able to adapt our sessions to suit individual needs, abilities and confidence levels.

The Guernsey Sailing Trust is a Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Centre, which means that it is required to maintain the safety and teaching standards laid down by the RYA and undergoes annual inspections to ensure these conditions are fulfilled.

During school term time the Sailing Trust is fully occupied in teaching sailing to the Islands Junior and Secondary Schools. Throughout the school holidays, various water-based RYA courses are run and are open to anyone who would like to learn to sail, from the age of five.  These courses are extremely popular and are booked up very early in the year.

The Guernsey Sailing Trust has also been  awarded the SportsMark status by the Guernsey Sports Commission.  SportsMark identifies a sporting organisation or club that works closely with the Guernsey Sports Commission and is:

  • Safe with high standards of safeguarding and welfare
  • Well run
  • Has fit for purpose corporate governance
  • Has appropriately qualified coaches
  • Has sound financial practices
  • Has a Development Plan in place

It is possible to support the Trust by becoming a Friends of the Sailing Trust.  Friends receive a 15% discount on sailing and powerboating courses.  For further information on how to become a Friend please go to the Friends page or download the Friends standing order form below.
