Instructor Development Days
These days are open to everyone – AI’s, DI’s, SI’s, PBI’s and those about to take their first qualifications. Run by RYA trainer’s, the days are focused on helping you to improve your skills and confidence while having fun! While we will come up with activities and sessions for the day, we want to be lead by our instructors – so please let us know if there are any areas you want to work on.
We will usually split the days or sessions into ‘Powerboat & Safety Boat’ and ‘Sailing’.
The next instructor training days are with Paul Outram and Steve Mitchell on 13th & 14th July. Book below!!

Potential Assistant Instructors must have finished year 8 at school and hold a RYA sailing scheme advanced module (preferably Seamanship Skills and if Start Racing they should hold one other).
Pre-entry assessment | Recommendation by Principal of the Recognised Training Centre |
Training course | Training should be based on a 20 hour course covering basic teaching principles, centre procedures and specific training in any unfamiliar equipment (see RYA book G14). Candidates will be assessed on their teaching ability with beginners. |
Qualified to teach | Up to Sailing Scheme Level 2 or Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 3 under the supervision of a Senior Instructor.
