Guernsey Sailing Trust Easter Homemade Boat Race: A Cracking Success! 🚤🌸

Sunshine, creativity, and a touch of friendly competition—it doesn’t get much better than the Guernsey Sailing Trust Easter Homemade Boat Race! On a gorgeous sunny day, with a light breeze guiding our homemade masterpieces across the Model Yacht Pond, the community gathered for a spot of midday of fun and ingenuity.

Seventeen homemade boats lined up at the starting point, each crafted from Easter egg boxes, recycled materials, and plenty of imagination. Some boats focused on sleek speed, while others prioritized intricate designs—but all were built with enthusiasm and determination.

As the race kicked off, the gentle wind played its part, helping push the boats steadily toward the other side of the pond. Spectators cheered as boats sailed (or bobbed) their way across, with some proving to be unexpectedly swift and others winning hearts with their unique designs.

After a fantastic showcase of creativity and skill, prizes were awarded:

🏆 Fastest Boat – This winner zoomed across the pond with impressive speed, leaving the competition in its wake!

🎨 Best Design – A boat that stood out for its craftsmanship, creativity, and aesthetic appeal.

Whether participants walked away with an Easter egg prize or simply the joy of taking part, one thing was clear—this year’s homemade boat race was a fantastic success. A huge thank you to everyone who joined in the fun, whether racing, cheering, or helping make this event possible.

Here’s to another year of homemade boating brilliance! Until next time… keep crafting, keep sailing, and may the wind always be in your favour. ⛵🌞
